Den and I have wanted to have a no spend weekend for a while. Wait, I have wanted to have a no spend weekend for a while. Den just wants to stare at me blankly when I make "crazy" suggestions like this. He could care less.
We almost pulled it off one weekend and then we ran out of ink for the printer. Damned kids, having to do homework and all that. I'm sure that it has nothing to do with the fact that I like to print coupons from time to time. I blame DJ.
Well, we finally succeeded in not spending one penny. And I found the secret to it. Go to the library and rent a TV series that you really wanted to see. Don't look at the slip that they give you until the weekend and then realize that it is due back on Monday. Make sure that you rent a series that everyone else wants so that you won't be able to get it for at least a month or two. Then flop down on the couch and don't move. 4400 will see to it that you have a no spend weekend.
I have to say that our library has really stepped it up. When Anna was home, she was shocked that they had so many of the current series. She said that they rival Netflix.
Yay for being lazy,
Sonya Ann

I have a no spend week-end all the time here. It's called the 'week-end I don't get paid' and happens every other week ;o)
Mamma-My plans usually fail when it comes to this. I keep trying though.
lol! My plans for a no-spend weekend end up with me working on some spot in the house and too tired to cook so they end up ordering pizza... I did manage to get the girls and Robb stuck on the couch for one movie last night. I didn't care what he picked. We ate Casey's pizza and watched Priest... Now that Meri is 13, it's opened a whole new world of movie watching for us but I still cringe and tell her NEVER SAY THAT! Wasn't too impressed with it, but eh. It's family time dang it! Sit your butt down!!! And I may have said that at least once during the course of the evening.
McVal-I would love if someone said to me sit your butt down. Hell then order me to go to bed early. Would be Heaven, I tell you.
I have a lot of no spend weekends. I love to hibernate for 2 days. And if Hubby offers to go to the grocery store for me, I do not discourage him at all. LOL!
No-spend weekends are pretty easy for us, especially in the winter. We just stay home and, Voila!, we don't spend any money.
Getting free movies or TV series does help, though.
Just about every weekend is a No spend zone here. You need to shove Den in a closet for a few days or something.
And it's about time you reaped some benefits at the library, seeing as your local taxes are so high. Finally!.....a benefit of living where you do. Amen and pass the popcorn....what are we watching next weekend?
Frances-Your hubby is awesome. I'm hoping that once we are empty nesters it will be easier to have no spend weekends. Maybe the casino will get in the way of that though.;)
Annie-We need to hunker down more. It is supposed to be really cold here this weekend, that will probably keep us in.
sluggy-Maybe I'll just try to get him to work on his to do list. Hahaha, yeah right. I'll shove him in the closet but I may need to enlist the help of duct tape to get him to stay.
And yes, our taxes are out of control. Pisses me off-I think I have said that before.
We have no spend weekends because we tend to hibernate in the winter.
ND Chic-I like your style!;)
